TCH west of Clarenville blocked due to collision, says RCMP

The RCMPsaid Fridaythat a section of the Trans-Canada Highway just west Clarenvillewasimpassable due to what the forcecalling a "serious collision."

The obstruction is about two kilometres west of the town, the force said in a statement.

Cpl. Jolene Garland told CBC News in a subsequent email thatthe collision was between two vehicles, "one of which is a transport truck."

The inability to pass is expected to be an issue for a number of hours, the police said in a statement shortly after 2:30 p.m. NT.

Police said they will provide further updates on the situation.

The statement did not indicatehow many vehicles were involved in the collision or if there were any fatalities.
