O'Keefe dismisses Mount Pearl Metrobus critiques

St. John's Mayor Dennis O'Keefe is firing back over recent comments made by Mount Pearl's mayor about Metrobus.

St. John's Mayor Dennis O'Keefe is firing back over recent comments from a neighbouring city about Metrobus.

Mount Pearl Mayor Randy Simms told the local chamber of commerce his city is not getting its money's worth, and that the bus service is "woefully inadequate."

O'Keefe says Simms is wrong.

"There is not an inadequate service to the city of Mount Pearl," OKeefe said. "They are paying, they're getting what they're paying for, and if it is to be upgraded then there will be a cost to go along with that upgrading, simple as that."

Simms says Mount Pearl pays about $860,000 and has roughly 1,000 Metrobus users.

O'Keefe says a plan to enhance Metrobus service to Mount Pearl was developed in 2007, but it was not passed by that city's council.
