True colours: Dad loses pink locks in shave for cancer

A St. John's father who dyed his hair pink in a cancer fundraiser and raised more than $7,000 shaved it all off Friday.

A St. John's man who dyed hishair pink to raise money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation raised more than $7,000before shaving it all off Friday.

Adam Keetchand his sons, four-year-old Elijah and Isaac, 15, went "pretty in pink" for a month-long fundraiser, and to raise awareness of cancer.

For Keetch, it was personal.

"My wife had a scare last year and we were extremely lucky that she doesn't have breast cancer," he said.

"But one in nine Canadian women are not that lucky, and we're trying to change that.

The fuchsia locks hit the floor on Friday, as Keetchhad it all shaved off, by cancer survivor Beverley Kelly.

Melissa Snow of Salon 1 in Paradise wanted to be part of it, so she dyed Keetch'shair and hosted the shaving party.

Afterwards, the Keetch family showed off a cheque for $7,305.

Isaac Keetchis keeping his hair pink,for now. A student at Prince of Wales Collegiate, he said the hair colour is getting lots of attention.
