Wednesday saw a Canada-wide campaign take over social media in an effort to raise awareness about bullying and bring an end to violence.

In Newfoundland and Labrador, students and schools, companies and community groups, politicians and police were all posting to social media their support of the Pink Shirt Day initiative.

The campaign first started in Nova Scotiawhere some high school students organized a protest to support a Grade 9 student bullied for wearing a pink shirt.

Since then, students across Canada have taken part in an annual day to wear pink in an effort to stop bullying in schools and communities.
