Residents onthe south coast of Labrador are being warned about multiple polar bear sightings in communities.

In a news release Tuesday, the Forestry and Agrifoods Agency said polar bears have been reported in Charlottletown, Black Tickle, Norman Bay and the Wunderstrands area.

Conservation officers are monitoring the animals movement through the communities, but residents are asked to contact their local district forestry office if they spot a bear.

If you should encounter a bear, you should give the animal space, remain calm, back away, and avoid direct eye contact.

Last week, residents on Fogo Island were warned, after polar bear tracks were spotted in the snow.
