Princess Anne visits Rainbow Riders in St. John's

Princess Anne made time Thursday morning on her royal visit to the provinceto take part in a sod-turning ceremony forthe new Rainbow Ridersfacility in Pippy Park, in St. John's.

The therapeutic riding program, which pairs children with disabilities with an equine partner, is in the midst of a massive fundraising campaign to improve its infrastructure, which is aging and under heavy demand.

Princess Anne isa dedicated equestrian herself, having won several eventing medals. She alsocompeted at the 1976 Olympics,and is the mother of Olympic eventingsilvermedallistZara Phillips.

As part of her tour, The Princess Royal will also take part in Memorial Day ceremonies and Beaumont-Hamel commemorations on July 1.
