22-year-old charged with weapons offences following alleged road rage incident
Man fired projectile that damaged 2 cars, police say
A 22-year-old man has been charged with several firearms offences following an alleged road rage incident in July, according to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.
Police responded to a reported weapons offence in the area of Topsail Road and Brookfield in St. John's just before 6 p.m. on July 11, where the man allegedly fired a "projectile" that resulted in two vehicles being damaged.
RNCmedia relations Const. James Cadigan said Wednesday police believe the projectile was fired from a BB gun or airsoft pistol.
The man faces four weapons-related charges, including careless use and pointing of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and intent to cause harm with an air gun or pistol.
The man also faces several offences under the Highway Traffic Act, Cadigan said.
He has been released on conditions and will appear in provincial court on Nov. 14.
