The chair of Salmon Festival says he hasn't heard any complaints about this year's festival and that there will definitely be another concert next year, despite the low turnout.

"There were no complaints. As a matter of fact we had absolutely incredible amount of positive feedback," said Darren Finn, Salmon Festival chair.

"Everybody who attended our concert had a fabulous time."

The concert promoter said about 6,200 people came to the show in Grand Falls-Windsor. although concert-goers estimate much lower numbers.

Finn said he doesn't have any final numbers on how many were in the crowd, but calls the show a success. He said that there's no doubt that there will be another one in 2016.

"The important thingfor us is that from our point of view it was successful. And the Salmon Festival was an event for 31 years and there will be a 32nd," he said.

"We will have a concert next year, we will have a festival next year and we're going forward."

Organizer calls for better coordination

However, Finn is calling on concert promoters to work together on their schedules in the future. This year, Salmon Festfell on the same day as the Confederation Hill Music Festival in St. John's, which featured Rod Stewart.

"In the future I'll be hopeful that we have more co-ordination with dates, and not just with the city of St. John's - any municipality or promoter," Finn said.

"We should do some more co-ordinating so that we're not overlapped, or certainly not on the same date."

When Maroon 5 and Pitbull headlined Salmon Fest in 2014, there were around 8,500 in attendance, which was considered a small crowd.
