Churchill Square bank robber pleads guilty

A man who is accused of multiple armed robberies and who was shot in the west end of St. John's in 2014 has pleaded guilty to holding up a bank in St. John's.

A man who is accused of multiple armed robberies and who was shot in an unrelated drive-by shootingin 2014 has pleaded guilty to holding up a bank in St.John's.

Sean Frampton, 27, entered a guilty plea via video from Her Majesty's Penitentiary Wednesday, when his case was called in provincial court in St. John's.

Frampton used a knife during the robbery at CIBC in Churchill Square and got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

His co-accused in the case, Patrick Bennett, had the charges against him dropped.

Sentencing in April

But this isn't the only armed robbery for which Frampton is facing charges.

In total, he has more than 30 other charges in the courts, including several armed robberies at convenience stores and gas stations around the St. John's areadating back to August 2014.

The court was told the other charges will be dealt with on April 8, when Frampton appears forsentencing.

CBC News had learnedFrampton was the target of a drive-by shooting in the west end of St. John's in September 2014. Hewas shot multiple times in the incident.

No one has beencharged in relation to the shooting.
