Bank robber Sean Frampton pleads guilty to armed robberies

A St. John's man who was shot in a west end residential area several years ago has admitted to committing a string of armed robberies.

Sean Frampton, 27, entered guilty pleas in relation to four armed robberies at convenience storesFriday at provincial court in St. John's.

All robberies happened between August and November 2014. In each case,he wore a mask and carried a knife.

In all, Frampton pleaded guilty to four counts of robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, disguise with intent and failure to comply with conditions of an undertaking or recognizance.

He also pleaded guilty to one count of possessing property obtained by crime.

Arrested after Churchill Square robbery

Frampton has already pleaded guilty to holding up CIBC in Churchill Square in early March.

It was then that Frampton was arrested, and later charged with armed robberies that had occurred in the preceding months.

In between robberies, Frampton was shot at the intersection ofBoyle Street and Anspach Street several times in a drive-by-shooting in September 2014.

The RNC never confirmed Frampton's identity as the victim, but did say it was a targeted attack.

He was later released from hospital.

Frampton will return to court on April 28 to be sentenced.
