Second indecent phone call charge for suspended police officer

A suspended police officer who was foundguilty last year of making an indecent phone call to a young woman faces a second charge ofmaking an indecent phone call to a different woman.

Sean Kelly, a Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officer, had a court appearance in provincial court in Corner Brook Tuesdayfor making an indecent call to a second woman on October 15, 2012.

Kelly was not present in court, but his lawyer previouslyentered a plea of not guilty on his behalf on the second charge.

The matter was set over untilMarch2017.

Kelly was foundguilty of making an indecent phone call as well as a mischief charge in April 2015.

He was sentenced to 10 months in jail but appealed the decision.

He had an appeal hearing in Supreme Court in September but the results are not yet known.Justice David Hurley said he would issue his written decision in "due course."

The second charge of making an indecent phone call is pending on the result of his appeal hearing for the first charge.

Kelly is currently suspended without pay.
