Everyone OK after small boat in distress rescued off Kellys Island

A 19-foot pleasure boat, carrying two people, wasrescued off Kellys Island earlyWednesday afternoon.

The Canadian Coast Guard sent an inshore rescueboat from Conception Bay Southout to assist the boat, as well as a Cormorant helicopter.

TheMV Flanders, the ferry that runs between Bell Island and Portugal Cove-St. Philip's, was also called on to help, and a Maerskvessel joined the rescue effort as well.

The distressed boat was found on shore on Kellys Island.

A spokesperson with the Coast Guardsaid everyone on board the boat is safe and there were no injuries.
