Ryan Snoddon: Snow and wind to keep howling into the evening

Snow and strong winds are now set to continue through this afternoon. Here's the latest.

A quickafternoon update for you.

St. John's International Airport has climbed to 22 cm of snow reported as of1:30 p.m.

While less snow is being reported downtown and in coastal areas, there's more snow to come and it's safe to saythis storm has more bite than was originally expected here in Metro.

This storm is backing in from east, which is why it's been harderto get a handle on. However, based on the latest radar and the forecast guidance, it appears the snow andstrong winds will continue steady to heavy across the Northern Avalon right through this afternoon.

It appears now, that it's going to be after supper time and through the evening hours when we'll finally start to see the snow mixing with a bit of drizzle and tapering off, withthe winds slowly easing as well.

By then it looks like 20-35+ cm of snow is possible over the northern Avalon & Metro region, with the highest totals likely inland and in the higher elevation areas.

The good news for those who don't enjoy mid-April snow? RDF is still on the menu for Thursday and Friday, especially here in the East & Northeast.
