Spring thaw uncovers carelessly discarded needles

As many in the St. John's area enjoy what some might call the first real day of springwith temperatures pushing into the double digits, the thaw is revealing the nastier side of the season.

Multiple discarded needles were discovered near Quidi Vidi Lake in St. John's over the weekend.

Another syringe was discovered by a concerned citizen in Kelligrewsnear the bus stop acrossnear the BAC Masonry College.

The City of St. John's said it collected nearly 200 needles within oneyear.
