Back to work conditions for Springdale doctor who had sex with patient

A Springdale doctor who admitted to inappropriate conduct involving two women who were his patients will be allowed to resume his medical practice, under strict conditions.

A Springdale doctor who hadinappropriate relationshipswith two women who were his patients will be allowed to resume his medical practice, under strict conditions.

The Newfoundland and Labrador College of Physicians and Surgeons issued a statement Monday saying Dr. Todd Young will be required to get regular counsellingby a psychiatrist and psychologist.

He will also have to employ a female medical professional who will chaperone his examinations of female patients for the next year.

The college said it will interview Young from time to time over the next two years to make sure he understands the doctor-patient boundaries and other ethical issues.

Young, 45, admitted to a three-year sexual relationship with a former patient while he worked as a general practitioner at the Green Bay Health Centre.

He also admitted to inappropriate conduct hugging and kissing with a second patient.

The College ofPhysiciansand Surgeons held an adjudication hearing in November 2015 and said Young's licence was suspended for 19 months.

That period hadended, since Young voluntarily stopped practising in April 2014.

He was also ordered to pay $20,000 to cover the investigation into the complaints.
