Police in British Columbia are searching for a missing man who is originally from eastern Newfoundland.

Police in British Columbiaare searching for amissing man who is originally from Newfoundland and Labrador.

Christopher Hannaford, 28,was reported missing Sunday after he went on a weekend camping tripnear Harrison Lake, east of Vancouver.

He has been living in Surrey, B.C., for several years but is originally from the Goulds area of St. John's.

Policesaidan extensive search has been conducted since Hannaford was reported missing.

"We had our search and rescue out by foot andby water. We had our police dog service. We had our RCMP air services helicopter in the air," saidChilliwack RCMP Cpl. Tammy Hollingsworth.

She said there's been no sign of Hannaford so far, and theRCMP plans to expand its search area.

He's is described as64" tall, 240 pounds, heavy build, blue eyes, shaved blonde-red hair. He was last seen wearing black track pants, a T-shirt and a pullover sweat shirt.

In the Goulds, his family is on edge waiting for news.

His father fears the worst.

"They're justsearching and waiting for the body to show up," said the missing man's father, Brian Hannaford.

Police said there is no indication of foul play.
