Brad Gushue, Stacie Curtis provincial curling champions

Brad Gushue claimed his 13th provincial men's curling title this weekend, while Stacie Curtis won the women's division.

Brad Gushueclaimed his 13th provincial men's curling title this weekend, while Stacie Curtis won the women's division.

Gushue defeated Colin Thomas8-1 after seven ends of play. This was the third time Thomas and his team have come second to Gushue's.

Gushue and his teammates,Mark Nichols, Brett Gallant and Geoff Walker, will go on to represent the province at the Tim Hortons Brier in Ottawa this March.

In the women's tournament Curtis defeated clubmate Shelly Hardy 7-1 to claim the title on Saturday in St. John's.

After three blank ends to start the game, Curtis scored three in the fourth end and stole two in the fifth, to take a commanding lead.

Curtis and her teammates Erin Porter, JulieDevereaux, CarrieVautourand coach EugeneTrickettwill represent the province at theScotties Tournament of HeartsFeb. 20in Grand Prairie, Alberta.

Curtis is a former Canadian junior champion, and will make her thirdappearance at the Scotties tournament representing the province.
