The Toronto Maple Leafs had made the decision to move its American Hockey League affiliate to St. John's prior to the beginning of the 1991-1992 season.

In this edition of our #ThrowbackThursday vintage video, the CBC's Jonathan Crowe reported on the first game that wasplayed by the St. John's Maple Leafs at Memorial Stadium.

Toronto Maple Leafs' top brass are featured in the video, and wethought it timely to post,seeing that senior officials of theMontreal Canadienswere in town this week. The team's AHL affiliate will play at the Mile One Centre for the next two seasons.
