RNC officer testifies Trevor Pardy told police he shot his girlfriend

A Royal Newfoundland Constabulary constablerespondingto the 2011 shooting of Triffie Wadmansays she saw a woman on the ground when she arrived on the sceneand a man, she identified as Trevor Pardy standing over her.

Cst. Krista Miller testified Tuesday, during Pardy's first-degree murder trial.

Miller said when she arrived at Boggy Hall Place in St. John's, she saw a woman on the groundnot movingand a man standing up.

She said the woman was wearing flip-flops and one had come off.

When she went towards the woman, Miller saidshe noticed a gun in the man's hand. She drew her own weaponand told him to drop his gun, but he didn't, so she went behind her police cruiser until another officer responded.

Miller said the man told her he had shot the womanand had called an ambulance.

She said after 15 to 20 minutes, the man went behind a pickup.Officers were able to move Wadman behind their vehicle, but she had no pulse.

Miller told the court the man was Trevor Pardy, 38, and shedescribed himas upset, panicked and very emotional.

The jury heard a recording of the 911 call thatPardy made that night. He is heard talking to the dispatcher, saying he shot his girlfriend by accident.He threatened to kill himself.

Under cross examination, Miller said she didn't shoot Pardy because he didn't point his gun at herand was not aggressive towards the police.

She said it was the first time she had to draw her gun while on duty.

Other witnesses have testified that Wadman, 30, and Pardy were arguing on the street just before the shooting happened.
