Trevor Pardy trial: Friends and family of Triffie Wadman testify
A friend of Triffie Wadmantestified thatTrevor Pardy had "roughed up" Wadmanat one point in their relationship, a jury heard Monday atthefirst-degreemurder trial.
Chris Whitewas one of several Crown witnesses who took the stand at Supreme Court in St. John's.
White said about a month and a half before she was killed, Wadman called asking if she could stay with him. However, White said,a week later she went back to Pardy.
The 11-person jury was not told why Wadman left Pardy at that time.
White said that about two or three days before the shooting, Wadman called again asking to stay with him because Pardy had roughed her up.
Pardy's lawyer, Bob Buckingham, jumped on that, and the judge told the jury to remember it's hear-say evidencesomething told second-hand.
Wadman's sister Sarina also took the stand Monday. She describedPardyas quiet when she first himand she noticed he paid a lot of attention to Wadman's daughter.
Pardy, 38, is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of 30-year-oldWadmanon Boggy Hall Place in the west end of St. John's in 2011.
The trial, which started last week, is slated to last forfour weeks. There are 30 witnesses left to call.
