Trevor Pardy trial: Gun shown shown to court
9 mm semi-automatic was registered to Pardy, court told
A photo of a handgun that Trevor Pardy is alleged to have used to kill his ex-girlfriend Triffie Wadman was shown to jurors Wednesday at a high-profile murder trial.
Pardy, 38, is accused of shooting Wadman, 30, on Oct. 1, 2011. He's being tried at Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador in St. John's.
Const. Ron Simms, who works withthe Royal Newfoundland Constabulary's forensic identification unit,took the stand Wednesday morning.
Simms photographed and videotapedthe crime scene the morning that Wadman, a mother of one, was killed.
He testified that when he arrived, officers were in a standoff with Pardy, who police allege would not drop his gun.
One photo shown to the jury is of two shell casing that were found on Boggy Hall Place, where Wadman was shot.
Another photo shows a marking on the road where Wadman was pulled away from Pardy to get her behind cover, Simms said.
Simms also photographed a pickup truck that had a cellphone and firearm laid on its back bumper.
The 11-person jury has been told by the Crown that the gun used to kill Wadman was a 9 mm semi-automatic that wasregistered to Pardy.
The Crown said that the gun was only supposed to have been used in Keels, Bonavista Bay.
More testimony from Crown witnesses is expected to continue this afternoon.
