Trevor Pardy trial: Juror dismissed following morning break

The first-degree murder trial for Trevor Pardy, the man accused of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend in the west end of St. John's four years ago, continues with more testimony from Crown witnesses Thursday.

A juror was dismissed from the first-degree murder trial for Trevor Pardy, the man accused of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend in the west end of St. John's four years ago, on Thursday afternoon.

Pardy, 38, is being tried at Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador in St. John's.

Triffie Wadmandied about an hour after calling 911 for help, after being shot on Boggy Hall Place in October 2011.

After coming back from a morning break, JudgeAlphonsus E. Faoursaid a woman sitting on the jury was dismissed because of qualifications not conduct.

Faour did not elaborate on the reason. The jury is now made up of seven women and four men. A jury can function with as few as 10 members.

Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Sgt. Colin McNeil, lead investigator on the case, returned to the stand to listen to more 911 calls that were made the morning Wadman was shot.

Remaining jury membersshowed little visible reaction as they listened to a series of emergency calls entered into evidence, including calls made byWadmananda man police allegeto be Pardy.

Text messages from Wadman'sphone from Sept. 29 - Oct. 1, 2011 were also entered into evidence Thursday afternoon.

Wadman sent one messageto Pardy, asking him to repay Wadman$350 that he allegedly owed her.

Sgt. McNeiltestified the two exchanged texts about arranging to meet so that Wadman could get her money back.
