Tropical storm Claudette to bring sticky, warm weather to Newfoundland

Tropical storm Claudette will feel more or less like a regular Newfoundland day when it movesover the island on Wednesday.

The storm will likely weaken to a tropical depression by the time it hits the island portion of the province, with wind gusts between 50 and 70 km/hr.

CBC meteorologist Ryan Snoddonsaid the low pressure system will bring warm, humid weather and rain.

Periods of rain are expected for southern and eastern portions, but rainfall amounts will not be significant.

Environment Canada has the entire island under a special weather statement, indicating that Claudette will move over southern Newfoundland first, dissipating as it moves island-wide.
