A Hopedale resident is being treated for Tuberculosis, but the province's top doctor says it does not appear the individual was infectious.

Labrador Health said in a statement on Tuesday evening that one person has been diagnosed with the disease. It saidthe diagnosis is not related to other recent cases of Tuberculosis in Labrador.

Doctors are working on contacting and testing people who have been in close contact with the patient.

"We have reviewed the case history of thisindividual," said Dr. David Allison, the Chief Medical Officer of Health, in a statement. "Due to the nature of the illness at the time of diagnosis, it does not appear that thisperson was infectious."

Close contacts will be tested as a precautionary measure.
