Two arrested after St. John's pharmacy holdup

Two people have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a pharmacy in St. John's last weekend.

Two people have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at apharmacy in St. John's last weekend.

A woman, 30, and a man, 37, will be charged with armed robbery, disguised with intent, and multiple breaches of court orders,police saidWednesday.

The woman was arrested at 4 a.m. Wednesday and is expected to appear in court later in the day. A court date hasn't been set for the man.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said Monday that two people entered a pharmacy and threw gasolineon two clerks before stealingabout 1,500 prescription pills and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Security video recorded Saturday night at the Brookfield Pharmachoice on Topsail Road shows the man throwing gasoline on two clerks shortly after he entered the store.

He then raced to the pharmacy, while his accomplice - a woman - jumped on the counter. She held a crowbar in one hand and a lighter in another, and threatened to light the two clerks on fire.

The pair escaped from the pharmacy - located on the corner of Burgeo Street, and near the Cowan Heights subdivision - just over 90 seconds later.
