More and more residents of Newfoundland have been capturing video and photos of whales along the coastlines.

The latest, from Joelle Denise Carey, was taken Thursday night off Quidi Vidi.

Carey captured video from White Hills, which gave a perfect view of the whales.

Earlier this week, a whale was spotted in St. John's harbour, much to the surprise of DFO scientist Jack Lawson.

Lawson said it's a bit unusual to see whales that close to the coastline.
