William's Harbour resident says there are no signs of relocation

It hasbeen more than a year since the people of William's Harbour voted to relocate, and very little has changed.

George Russell lives in William's Harbour and says he hasn't seen any progress on the move.

"There's nothing happening," he told CBC Radio's Labrador Morning.

"It seems like the government is really dragging its heels on this file, but I don't know what the problem is to be honest with you."

Russell said hehasn't heard anything from the government so far about relocating.

"We got a job here," he said. "So we got to stay as long as we can work."

There are only five families living in the area, Russell said, and while they do have a small grocery store,they do not have a medical clinic.

"We're on an isolated island here, probably one of the most isolated in Newfoundland and Labrador," he said.

He said it wouldbe great to move closer to amenities.

Russell said they are in limbo right now and it's hard to plan for such anuncertain future.

"I don't know what will happen, to be honest with you," he said.
