Yellowknife RCMP seized 1,100 pre-packaged rocks of crack cocaine and arrested two men Monday morning as part of an ongoing investigation.

In a press release, RCMP say they conducted a "targeted vehicle stop" on Highway 3 just outside of Yellowknife at about 7:30 a.m.

Two men were arrested and both were charged with trafficking cocaine and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

Police found the baggies of crack cocaine after a search of the vehicle.

Tanner Wade Perkes, 19, and Scott Bimson, 47, both appeared in court Monday. Perkes was also charged with breaching court conditions and has been remanded to custody. Bimson is eligible for release upon posting a cash bail.

"This short-term investigation led to the seizure of these drugs before they reached the streets of Yellowknife," said Sergeant Dean Riou of the Federal Investigations Unit in a press release. "That's a win for the entire community."
