Two Nunavut MLAs are calling on the Auditor General of Canada to take a close look at the Nutrition North Canada program.

"There are plenty of reasons why the Auditor General of Canada needs to audit the Nutrition North program. We need to find out once and for all what is happening with our Canadian tax dollars," said Schell.

Concerns have been raised about Nutrition North since it replaced the old Food Mail program two years ago.

MLAs say people in Nunavut question whether the subsidies are being passed on to consumers, and if retailers are following the program's requirements.

The motion will be read for the first time on Thursday.
