Three councillors were booted out of their council duties in a meeting Monday night at the Salt River First Nation in Fort Smith, N.W.T.

Band member Henry Beaver Jr., who also recently ran for chief, said Judith Gale, Connie Benwell and Joline Beaver were all voted out.

None of them were at the meeting.

Beaver Jr. said there is supposed to be 14 days notice for a council meeting, but they were only told of the meeting a few days in advance.

Beaver Jr. could not give specifics as to why the three councillors were voted out. He said the council now must hold a by-election for their seats.

Beaver Jr. is also challenging the results of the recent by-election, where Frieda Martselos was elected chief.
