72 firefighters head to Yukon from Ontario

Reinforcements are coming to Yukonfrom Ontarioas 72 firefighters are flying in to help with the territory's wildfires.

According to Yukon Wildland Fire Services, 10new fires were sparked by lightning on Thursday,bringing the total number of fires this season to 26.

The firefighters from Ontario are called "initial attackcrewmembers," and are expected toarrive in Whitehorse on Saturday.

Fire officials are reminding the public that burning permits are suspended across the territory.

A campfire ban has not been issued for the territory but fires have been banned within the city limits of Whitehorse. Parks Canada has also banned campfires within KluaneNational Park.
