Aglukkaq vs. Tutanuak: A distraction from 'food crisis' in the North?

Nunavut's Member of Parliament was a hot topic on Parliament Hill this week, after she said she's considering all legal options after the deputy mayor of Rankin Inlet, Nunavut, said she demanded an apology fromhimfor making disparaging remarks about the federal Nutrition North program.

In a statement, LeonaAglukkaq says she never asked for an apology from anyone in Rankin Inlet, including Deputy Mayor SamTutanuak.

But during question period on Friday, Aglukkaq and the Nutrition North program were under fire.

"As for the people of Rankin Inlet, they deserve more than intimidation and empty rhetoric from the current government," saidNew Democrat MP NikkiAshton. "We should be doing everything we can to ensure that nobody in the North has to go to the dump to get food."

All this has led some to wonder: Isthespat between Leona Aglukkaq and Sam Tutanuaka distraction from what some consider the government's failure to address the food crisis in the North?
