The school and band office have been closed until further notice.

Aklavik Mayor Arnie Steinwand says the community is ready to evacuate at a moments notice.

"If we got one more foot of water, we'd have to evacuate."

Steinwand says most of the roads have been washed out, but the road to the airport is still clear.

Aklavik's emergency committee is meeting at 4:30 p.m. today to decide if the community will have to evacuate.
