Canada-wide warrants issued for 2 men after weekend shootings in Whitehorse

Whitehorse RCMP have issued Canada-wide arrest warrants for two men facing charges related to a downtown shooting last weekend.

Whitehorse RCMP have issued Canada-wide warrants for two men wanted in connection with a downtownshooting incident last weekend.

Daniel Joel Mason, 31, of Yukonand Sean Kenneth Broadley, 40,of no fixed addressare both facing a number of charges including:

  • attempted murder (two counts each)
  • kidnapping
  • possession of firearmwhile prohibited
  • careless use of a firearm
  • possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Broadleyhas also been charged with driving while disqualified.

The charges stem from a weekend incident that left two other men injured, apparently by gunfire. The shots were fired early on Nov. 14near the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Main Street.

Police say they have been searching forMason andBroadleybuthave not found them. They say the two fugitives are possibly armedand they're warningthe public against approaching either of them.

RCMP say the investigation is considered "high priority," but are releasing few details while it continues. They say they are examining the possibility that the weekend shootings are linked to other crimes, but have not found any connections yet.

Officers and other resources havebeenre-assigned from other duties to assist in the ongoing investigation.Yukon's Major Crime Unit, Federal Investigation Unit, Relief Unit, Community Safety Unit and Traffic Unit are all involved.
