Here's one Christmas novelty that could never come too soon for some Yukoners a craft beer Advent calendar.

The Yukon Liquor Corporation tripled its order this year to100 calendars and started selling them at exactly noon on Friday. A little more than an hour later, they were gone.

"It's for my partner and he just really loves beer," said Sue Johnson. She was one of the handful of Yukoners who managed to buy one last year, and made sure not to miss out this yearbecause "it was such a hit."

"It's a really nice opportunity to try a bunch of different beers without having to spend a lot of money on a single bottle," Johnson said.

Surprise beer, every day

Advent calendars are typically less boozy, and less pricey. The 24-bottle beer calendars sold for $144each, working out to sixdollars per bottle meaning each beercostmore than manychocolate Advent calendars. The craft beers light to extra strongare made by a variety of brewers.

"The big deal is you get a surprise beer, every day in December," said Marko Marjanovic, who started up his own nano brewery in Whitehorse last spring."It's amazing, you don't know what you're getting."

"I would say if you mix this with a chocolate Advent calendar, it's heaven," Marjanovic said.
