N.W.T. reports zero new COVID-19 cases for first time in weeks

This is the first time the territory recorded no new cases since Nov. 4.

For the first time in weeks, the N.W.T. is reportingno new cases of COVID-19.

In a news release on Friday, the Office of the Chief Public Health Officer says the number of active cases in the territory dropped to 35, from 42on Thursday. This continues a downward trendthat begun on Nov. 16.

Of the active cases, 28 are inTuktoyaktuk, four are inDettah, Ndil and Yellowknife, one is in Inuvik, one is in Norman Wellsand one in Hay River and K'atl'odeeche First Nation.

On Thursday,health officialsextendedthe containment order forTuktoyaktuk another six days, until Dec. 5.

The current public health restrictions wereput in place on Nov. 9 to help stop the spread of COVID-19 in the community following an outbreak.
