In a news release, the minister responsible for QEC, Keith Peterson, said he received the news on Friday.

"Davidinformed the government and the board that he wishes to spendmore time pursuing private business interests, Peterson said.

Omilgoitok was appointed chair in January of last year, following the resignation of five out of six board members, includingSimon Merkosak.

In a letter that was made public, Merkosak said the board members quit out of frustration and concern over lack of consultation with the board by the Nunavut Government.
