Deepak Int. finally closes deal for diamond polishing plants

The N.W.T. Department of Public Works and Services says Deepak International has finally paid for the diamond polishing plants near the Yellowknife airport, after the sale was announced in January 2013.

The N.W.T. Department of Public Works and Services says Deepak International has finally paid for the diamond polishing plants near the Yellowknife airport, a year and a half after the sale was announced.

Deepak Kumar is president of Deepak International. The company paid for two diamond polishing plants this week, after their sale was announced a year and a half ago.

In January 2013, the Government of the Northwest Territories announced the Edmonton-based company was buying the plants for $1.9 million.

The Department of Public Works saysDeepakInternational paid for the plants earlier this week.

Deepak President Deepak Kumarhas saidhe has secured deals with the mining companies for rough diamonds, but has refused to give details.

There is no word yet on when the polishing plants are expected to open.
