Denecho King charged with murder, attempted murder in Sunridge attacks

RCMP have laid amurder charge in the death of John Wifladt at the SunridgePlace apartments in Yellowknife last December.

Wifladt, 39,was one of two men found seriously injured on Dec. 14 in an apartment on the third floor of Sunridge Place on 51 Avenue.He died later in hospital.

DenechoKing, 22, has been arrested andcharged inWifladt'sdeath and is facing a charge of attempted murder of ColinDigness, whowas also found injured in the apartment.

Digness was medevaced to Edmonton for treatment.

Police say the determination of whether the charge against King will be first- or second-degree murder will be madein court.

Kingremains in custody and will be appearing in court at a later date.
