Drugs, cash seized in Inuvik during assault investigation

Inuvik RCMP have arrested and charged three men in relation to an assault after drugs and cashseized.

Inuvik RCMP have arrested and charged three men after recovering drugs and cash at a campground.

According to a Tuesday news release, police responded to a call for a man who was "seriously assaulted" on June 14 and began an investigation. Theyidentified three men in connection to the assault at the Jakpark campground and a search warrant was prepared.

Police say they located approximately 330 grams of crack cocaine valued at $49,000, 220 grams of marijuana valued at $4,000, and a "significant sum" of cash at the site.

RCMP have arrested and charged Justin Callious and Coltyn Petruniak with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and assault causing bodily harm, and Joshua Houle with possession for the purpose of trafficking and uttering threats against property.

The man who was assaulted received medical attention and was released from the hospital.

Police say no one was injured during the execution of the search warrant and they are not seeking any other suspects in relation to the investigation.
