Coroner's office identifies driver killed in Alaska Highway collision

The Yukon Coroner's Service has identified thevictim of a fatal vehicle collision on the Alaska HighwayMonday evening,as 46-year-old Garth Evan Zorn.

Zorn was the owner ofEZ Heating and Sheet Metal Ltd., and had been a resident of Watson Lake for 27 years. Hewas travelling with his dog, Romeo, who also died in the accident.

According to an RCMPpress release, at about 5:30 p.m. Monday, Zorn'struck collided head-on with a boom truckatkilometre 1,136, near Swift River, Yukon.

RCMPsaytwo people in the boom truck suffered minor injuries.

The Alaska Highway was closed from Junction 37 to Teslin for about 12 hours. Two collision analysts from Yukon RCMPconducted a scene analysis.

TeslinRCMPand the Yukon Coroner's Service are investigating.

"At this time, charges are not expected to be laid," the statement said.
