He appeared before a judge for his preliminary inquiry in the community this week.

Meeko will stand trial on 28 sex-related charges including sexual interference and sexual assault. There are multiple complainants ranging in age from their mid-teens to late 30s.

Police say the offences are alleged to have happened at the school between 1984 and 2000.

Until his trial, Meeko will live with family in Iqaluit.

He has to stay away from schools, playgrounds or places where children gather and he cannot be with a child unless a responsible adult is present.

Meeko will next appear in court in Iqaluit on Aug. 12.
