PaschalinaNadli issending gifts toSachs Harbour, the territory's most northerly community, located on Banks Island.CBC Trail's End caught up with Nadli on the phoneto find out more. This interview has been edited and condensed.

What are you doing?

Every time I travelled for medical or personal reasons, I bought something. I wasn't sure where I was going to send it but then I did some research and foundout Sachs Harbouris the smallest place in the Northwest Territoriesand decided that's where it's going to go.

[Editor's note: Sachs Harbour is one of the smallest communities in the territory, population-wise. It has about 135 residents, according to 2011 data from the Northwest Territories Bureau of Statistics.]

I put a message out on Facebook and other people started donating, even a woman who drove over from Hay River to drop something off. The Northern Store is covering the cost of shipping the items toSachs Harbour, as a donation.

Why not give presents in your own community?

The community already does Christmas giving through the school and Christmas hampers and Operation Christmas Child. One year I was talking with my family and wondering 'Why don't people do something for Canada and maybe kids up north?'

Do you know anyone in Sachs Harbour?

No. I contacted the hamlet office and spoke to the receptionist and told her my plan. She was a little bit surprised and said 'God bless you.'She said people and kids in Sachs harbour will be very happy.

And finally, why are you doing this?

I'm at a time in my life when it's time to pay it forward and give back. I just want to see a kid happy.
