Grizzly victim identified as Kenton Novotny of Tennessee

The man killed by a grizzly bear last week south of Norman Wells, N.W.T., has been identified as Kenton Novotny, a 53-year-old businessman from Tennessee.

Man died while bear hunting in N.W.T. last week

The man killed by a grizzly bear near Norman Wells, N.W.T., last week has been identified as Kenton Novotny of Tennessee.

The 53-year-old businessman from Germantown, Tenn., was killed about 230 kilometres south of Norman Wellson Sept. 17.

He had travelled to the North to go hunting in the Mackenzie Mountains.

Novotnywas with a guide.They'd just shot an animal when the grizzly attacked.

A spokesperson with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources saidofficials with the department found and destroyed the bear on Saturday.

They are certain it wasthe same bear that killed Novotny but they aredoing DNA testing to confirm.

They say it is up to guides to train hunters on how to be safe while out hunting.
