RCMP say 30-year-old woman found dead under pickup truck at Iqaluit home

RCMP say the body of a 30-year-old woman was found underneath a pickup truck Wednesday in Iqaluit. The woman's name has not been released.

RCMP have released details about a body found underneath a pickup truck Wednesday in Iqaluit.

According to a news release, IqaluitRCMP received a report of a person lying underneath a parked vehicle in front of a residence on Wednesday morning just after 8 a.m.

Upon arriving at the scene, police found the body of a deceased 30-year-old woman.

"The family of the deceased has been advised and our thoughts are with them during this unfortunate time," the release reads.

The woman's name has not been released.

Nunavut's Major Crime Unit and ForensicIdentification Services are assisting with the investigation, and Iqaluit'schief coroner has ordered a post-mortem examination to help determine the cause of death.

The release says that "there are no known safety concerns for the public at this time."

According to the release, overnight weather conditions in Iqaluit were -25 C with moderate winds. Police reminded the public in the release that winter weather conditions in Iqaluit can be "very hazardous," and to be cautious while outdoors.
