2 face child porn charges after Iqaluit RCMP investigate Facebook luring

Two people in Iqaluit are facing child pornography charges after a police investigation into reports of child luring over Facebook, RCMP announced Thursday.

Police received complaint about male attempting to get explicit images from girls

Two people in Iqaluit are facing child pornography charges after a policeinvestigation into reports ofchild luring over Facebook, RCMP announced Thursday.

According to a news release, police received a complaint in February about a male "attempting to obtain explicit images from young females in Iqaluit over Facebook."

The RCMP launched an investigation, which led to search warrants being executed at two homes in the community Tuesday. Police say they obtained evidence during the searches which led to charges against two males a 19-year-old adult and a 16-year-old youth.

The accused were not named by police.

The adult has been charged with twocounts of child luring and one count of possessing child pornography. The youth is facing twocounts of child luring, twocounts of distributing child pornography, twocounts of knowingly publishing publishing intimate images without consent, and one count of exposing himself to a person under 16 for a sexual purpose.

Both the accusedwere released with conditions after a bail hearing March 22. Their next court appearance is scheduled for May 22 in Iqaluit.
