The charges involve multiple complainants ranging in age from their mid-teens to late 30sand date back to 1984 when Meeko was ateacherat Nuiyak Elementary School in Sanikiluaq, Nunavut.

Sanikiluaq RCMP beganinvestigating Meeko in July 2012after a member of the community came forward with
allegations against him.

Since then, about a dozen complainants have come forward.

Police say the offences are alleged to have happened at the school between 1984 and 2000.

Meeko has been out on bail since July 2013 and has been livingin Iqaluit.

He was ordered to stay away from schools and playgrounds.
