'We are so overjoyed': Jordin Tootoo and his wife welcome baby girl

It's a girl!

Jordin Tootooand his wife Jennifer Tootoo are celebrating the birth of their daughter.

The NHLplayermade the announcementon his Instagram account yesterday.

"Cannot believe we had a girl!!"Tootooexclaimed in the post.

He says she weighed six pounds,four ounces and is19.5 inches long.

"We are so overjoyed with this beautiful miracle!"

Tootoo, who's originally from Rankin Inlet, Nunavut, is now a free agent, after his contract with the New Jersey Devilsended. Tootoo told CBC he would play again if a team picks him up for next season.

Tootoo'sfans in Nunavut are overjoyed at the announcement. A post on the CBC Nunavut Facebook page with the announcement Thursday morning had over 800 likes in a little more than two hours.

As for the name of the littleTootoo?

"To be announced shortly," he said in the post.
