Karin Taylor appointed to N.W.T.'s Supreme Court

The former director of the N.W.T. government's legal division has been appointed as a judge to the N.W.T. Supreme Court.

In a news release yesterday, the Attorney General of Canada announced Karin Taylor's appointment. She replaces Karan Shaner, who left her position at the N.W.T. Supreme Court in June after shewas appointed to Alberta's Court of Appeal.

Taylor headed up the territorial justice department's legal division for several years before this appointment.

She has a background with the N.W.T. Legal Aid Commission as a family lawyer, and as litigation counsel for the N.W.T. government. Her legal practice focused on civil litigation and public sector law.

She was called to the bar in Nova Scotia in 2006.
