Nunavut man stabbed in head, 24-year-old man arrested for aggravated assault

A man has been arrested in Gjoa Haven, Nunavut, after allegedly stabbing a 53-year-old man in the head. The victim was medevaced to Yellowknife, where he is believed to be in stable condition.

A man has been arrested in Gjoa Haven, Nunavut, after allegedly stabbing a 53-year-old man in the head.

The incident happened Tuesday morning at about 7:30 a.m., according to an RCMP news release.

Officers went to a home where they found the injured man, and he was rushed to the local health centre.

The victim was later medevaced to Yellowknife, where he is "believed to be in stable condition," the statement said.

A 24-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault.

He's now in custody and scheduled to appear in the NunavutCourt of Justice on Friday.
